And it is just logical that such a system would work perfectly in a home environment since that is where most people spend most of their time.
If the plan is to have this vehicle flying around the neighborhood and into other towns and cities as well, then they must be able to make it very lightweight. If they make the vehicle too heavy, it would not fly properly. So, if you will recall the concept of the airbag, which uses a pressurized gas to compress the passenger inside the vehicle, then the same principles must apply here as well. The concept of airbags in cars were developed in response to the tremendous crush injuries sustained by passengers in a few car crashes, but they were not effective or efficient until the development of airbags.
So, if you take away the battery powered motor, you will have no power to climb that hill or make that turn. If you do not put on the correct weight load, it is not going to fly right. With the right design, the battery packs can be removed and replaced. There have been some radical ideas put forward for powered flying cars, like using the exhaust gases from a jet aircraft for power, but it appears that there may be another issue with it as well: the noise level created by the exhaust fumes being pumped out must be extremely high, which would severely compromise any regenerative capabilities of the vehicle.
If you are going to use batteries for powering your flying cars, then you need to be very careful how you pack them up and how you store them. It also makes sense to get rid of the internal combustion engine and to use a fan to push the air into the cabin. Also, it has to be very lightweight, or the weight of the motor will make it go down.
